Following on from Vol. 2, I present DJ Krisfader Vol. 3 – another rare gem from the local legend himself. Even if Hip Hop was born in the Bronx and is closely associated to American culture, the Nineties saw a huge surge in interest sweep the globe and notably in France. DJ Krisfader hosted a local radio show in Lyon and recorded mixtapes featuring local rappers amongst the banging tracks sourced from Stateside. Recorded in November 1996, Vol. 3 features Kanibal, DJ Roots, Sane, Les 3 Kas and PAM dropping dope freestyles and scratches for France. The rest of the tape is a good mix of New York rap with Krisfader making sure he blesses the listener with some rarer joints such as Al Tariq’s Crime pays, Concrete Mob’s Boiling point or Big Noyd’s Usual suspect. I’ve still got one one tape from Kris so keep your ears tuned into this blog for more goodness coming soon.
